I think it would’ve been more accurate to compare the base model Rivian that starts at 78,000. The battery capacity and range is roughly the same as is the price.

The rivian range , HP and interiors and off road capability puts it in a different class than the EV 9 . They should really not be compared just coz they are 3 row SUV’s . Both speak to a different audience and price points along with lifestyle.

This is one of the most disingenuous reviews I have seen. They might as well have said that it is an ad for Kia. Comparing a Kia with 280 miles range with a 400 miles range R1S and complaining about the price difference? Guess, what? R1S with 270 mile range is $75,900. R1S offers more power, off-road capability, towing capacity and generous storage space all at the 76k price tag. Kia has Car Play support. I give them that!

I hope they fixed the transmission problem. My new Acadia is setting in the shop at the dealership for the second time in six months waiting for a repair part to fix the transmission at only 4000 miles

Imo, the comparison isn't right. They are comparing apples with oranges. EV9 is a daily family car. Rivian is known for off toad capabilities. See other reviews. That is what you get for 30k more. Better off road capability, better approach angle, better departure angle, power, towing capacity, etc.. There is a lot to learn from Out of Spec (Kyle) and Auto focus (MKBHD) reviews. This looks like a sales pitch to me, not an honest review

This was a good review. I have to agree with some of the other commenters here. 30 grand more than the Kia and you’re not really getting much more performance or space. I say wait a couple of years and then buy when used on the used car market. 🤷🏽‍♂️. Also, not sure how much longer Rivian will be around as they are struggling financially.

The problem with the EV9 is that it's just ugly!

EV9 is a family EV and Rivian is an adventure EV (never advertised as a family SUV). If compare with a Rivian, you must also compare off-road capabilities.

losing $1.5 bill/qtr... rivian is headed for bankruptcy for sure ... owners will be left out to dry... any benefits of Rivian's vehicles are outweighed by the negatives of its impending bankruptcy

Rivian unproven reliability, and $30K+ more over the EV9 is a big no for me. The bottom line is, ALL EV's are overpriced, rather wait 3 years and get a pre owned still under the warranty and save 40% off of a brand new one.

Rivian designed the R1 vehicles to perform off road as well. I think part of their price - and weight - is the suspension and what it can do off road. You sort of glossed over that and treated it like a normal 3-row SUV. Sure, many buyers may not go off road. But they are paying for that performance, and the 0-60 time. I think Kia did a great job, and I’m also curious to see if Rivian can bring the R2 to market on time and budget.

Ev9 is a more family friendly option. But there are cheaper more comparable rivian options for this comparison. However, for 6 pass, the minivan is still a better option for long road trips.

What the Charging Point installed in the house does, is to protect the house current loads from overloading. If for example your house main fuse is rated 100A, then when you are charging your car, it uses 32A, you are left with 68A. For some reason you have a lot of equipment in the house like cooker that may use another 32A, you washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge, air-conditioning and all sums up to nearly or over the max load your house can have which is 100A, then it may suspend giving power to the car charger and the car charger detects the lower incoming current and will pause or disconnect the charging process

In my understanding, the box in the house is called the charging point, it is not the EV Car charger. The Car Charger is built-in in the car itself. The built-in car charger protects the car. It check the incoming voltage and current and if its not within the acceptable range, the car will not accept it. You should know what is the built-in car charger rating is, if its rated 32A max, there’s no point having to install in the house a 48A charging point as it will only be doing 32A as that is the car charger specs.

I test drove the LS and Z71 versions of the new Traverse recently and I liked the Z71better because it felt just like my 2021 Durango when it comes to having excellent ride quality. My Durango feels heavy and solid...the LS had decent ride quality but I could defintley feel the difference in suspension design between it and the Z71. I'm not a fan of the feel of turbo 4 cylinders becaue of their nosiness/all growl no real umph/ turbo lag characteristics, but I will say that the Traverse's 4 Cylinder feels better than the one in the new Grand Highlander when it comes to accelaration and refinement. Plus the hood of the new Grand Highlander is so tthin that I could see it flex/bounce at highway speeds...something neither the Traverse nor the Durango do. I once owned and old school Tahoe Z71 with barnyard dorrs, so I am glad to see that trim level on the Traverse. I test drive vehicles as a hobby and I am going to make the same prediction about it as I did when I first cfhecked out the current Jeep Grand Cherokee... Chevy is going to sell a lot of them. I was corect about the Jeep and I am sure many are going to prefer the new Traverse over the likes of the new Grand Higlhander which has very lazy design langauge in my opinion because it looks like a big Rav 4... yuck!

A V6 is way better then a noisy 4 cylinder any day of the year.

Well i would definitely rather have this over a hyundai venue but compared to a cx30 or even a renegade or seltos it feels a lacking particularly in the performance department

I am a 55 year old IT TEch and I have never had to watch a video to know how to drive a car, how it works etc. Not sure this is the car of the future. Maybe this is why they did not work out for Hertz ? So I am just curious what do you do when the RFID\Bluetooth Key Card does not work ? Does anyone else just not see how an every day key card world work better.

If i am not mistaken, Acadia offers a Luxury Package that adds double laminated windshield and front window glass, that Traverse does not provide. So Acadia with Lux package is expected to be quieter than the Traverse.

11 years later and this car still sells used for +$10k while the innovation u glazed on other manufacturers has made them discontinued LOL. Reliability from simplicity is the innovation most of us are looking for after this past decade

The sound of that motor ruins the entire experience. Just sounds like its struggling getting to highway speeds. Specially compared to the old v6.

I turned that option down when getting my F150. It’s really not necessary for me. I’ll drive for myself. Just my opinion.
